Tea processing steps?

We will explain how tea is typically processed in the processing center.
There are major steps in the CTC tea process, which we will demonstrate, but every brand has its own grade.

1. Tea plant cultivation:

Tea plants need to be cultivated in a proper way as per its guidelines, Govt of India  (tea board) is a regulatory department for supporting tea growers in the country. Tea plants require three years to mature, and tea growers typically plant tea plants from October to December. Better soil, moisture, and environment provide better-quality tea leaves.

2. Tea leaves plucking:

First, tea leaves should be collected from plants. It is known as plucking. March to December is the typical harvesting time. Plucking is the first process in industrial or handmade tea manufacturing.
Two types of plucking take place: one is hand plucking, and the other is machine plucking.

Most companies recommend hand plucking because newborn leaves are collected, which is why leaves might not get damaged through the plucking process.

3. Withering:

After plugging, there is a process called “withering,
Tea leaps onto the bed and is spread out to a specific thickness in preparation for withering.
In this process, extra moisture is removed by using air; this process takes 8 to 14 hours, depending on sunlight and temperature. Depending on their quality, leaves can lose up to 30% of their weight during the withering process.

4. CTC:

CTC stands for “cutting, twisting, and curling.” Tea leaves are cut into small pieces and twisted and curled after being cut by using machines.

5. Fermentation:

In the fermentation process, tea leaves are oxidized for a period of time. Tea leaves are exposed to air by laying the cut tea leaves on the floor, using a specific room temperature. Only green tea turns brown after oxidization, which is one of the most important parts of tea processing.

6. Drying:

Tea leaves are dried in a tray using heating machines.  It requires air for the temperature range of 80–120 °C and airflow velocity range: of 0.25–0.65 m/s. 10° Fahrenheit temperature
during the drying process.
They typically use gas and coal machines for this purpose. After 24 to 26 minutes, tea is prepared for discharge.

7. Sorting:

In the sorting process, some tea should be removed because it is not good for human consumption.
After filtering, teas are sorted into different grades by automatic machines, then the teas are ready for packaging and distribution.

What is the organic tea production method?

Organic tea is produced by using ecologically sustainable plantation methods. It is produced without polluting soil, water, air, or leaves. From cultivation to packaging, no fertilizer, pesticides, or other chemicals should be used. It is a total chemical-free tea-making process. In this process, it takes approximately 3 to 4 years of special care. This is the natural tea-making process. Organic teas are more delicious and healthy.
